Western River Anglers (WRA) continued efforts to give back to the community this August by sponsoring Midsummer Melt, a charity concert with Grammy award-winning band Portugal. The Man. Midsummer Melt benefited the Alpine Science Institute (ASI) of Central Wyoming College and Protect Our Winters (POW). ASI researches and brings attention to receding glaciers in the Wind River Mountain Range of Wyoming. POW is a nonprofit founded by professional snowboarder Jeremy Jones that brings attention to climate change through utilizing action sport athletes with large social media followings. As fly fishers dependent on a healthy watershed after each winter, WRA is committed to supporting conservation efforts and practicing environmental responsibility. While catching fish is the main goal of any WRA expedition, we hope to do so humanely and attentively to our impact on local ecosystems.
After Midsummer Melt, WRA was lucky enough to have the opportunity to take Portugal. The Man out on the Snake River. Not only was the fishing trip successful but the Portugal. The Man members represented well, having plenty of outdoors experience. Check out some of these photos…
